If the rabbits allow, we try and produce home grown vegetables organically and if there is any surplus these are available for guests to purchase. You can also order locally laid eggs in advance of your stay so that breakfast is taken care of.
All vegetable waste is recycled by large composting heaps and a wormery, used to improve soil quality either in The Barn's polytunnel or the vegetable plots. The polytunnel produces tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, aubergines, peppers, chillies, lettuce and more depending on the weather and our physical ability to do more!
A recycling shed is provided for the usual local authority wheelie bins and this can also be used to store outside furniture & bikes if you care to bring them (this shed is lockable).
The water supply is a pure borehole supply, producing healthy, delicious drinking water. Rain water is also collected in a water butt for car or bike washing, etc. The Barn is highly insulated with triple glazing which makes it easy to keep warm, especially in the winter with the wood burning stove. The wood supply is completely self sufficient from thinnings/trimmings, pollarding and felling, with a policy of either re-growth or replanting. There are also back up electric heaters and an off peak heating/water system.
If you have any questions about any of the above or would like to book The Barn (and order your eggs in advance!) please contact us.
